Sonoff - an entry level, budget solution, with powerful features and quality hardware

Sonoff is a popular smart home brand, known for its affordable and versatile range of devices, compatible with the eWeLink cloud platform, as well as, open-source platforms like Home Assistant. Sonoff specializes in smart switches, plugs, sensors, and relay modules that allow users to remotely control and automate their home appliances and systems. One of the key technical strengths of Sonoff products is their use of Wi-Fi for connectivity, making them easy to install and integrate without the need for additional hubs or gateways. Wi-Fi devices are particularly popular among DIY enthusiasts and tech-savvy users due to their support for various custom firmware, such as Tasmota and ESPHome

Since 2022, Sonoff has also been offering Zigbee 3.0 devices, especially sensors, which can be integrated with eWeLink cloud platform via a Sonoff Zigbee gateway, but are also compatible with most 3rd party Zigbee gateways. 

Another advantage of Sonoff products is their compatibility with popular voice assistants like Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and even integration with IFTTT, which expands the possibilities for automation.

The eWeLink app, Sonoff’s central control platform, enables users to manage their devices from anywhere, set schedules, and create automation rules, all with a user-friendly interface. Sonoff has also started to offer local hubs working without internet connection and cloud: Sonoff's iHOST hub can run the eWeLink smart home automation platform locally.
