The Shelly BLU Door/Window (ZB) is a compact opening sensor equipped with both Bluetooth and Zigbee connectivity, designed to monitor the status of doors, windows, and other openable surfaces. It provides real-time notifications when a door or window is opened or closed, enhancing both home security and automation possibilities - such as triggering lights or starting an air conditioning system. The device also includes a built-in light sensor, making it ideal for creating and executing automation scenarios based on ambient light conditions.
The sensor uses low-power Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and Zigbee communication (which can even operate simultaneously), ensuring long battery life. It can be easily integrated into Wi-Fi-based smart home systems via Shelly BLU devices or Shelly devices with BLE gateway functionality, while Zigbee enables straightforward integration with systems like Home Assistant.
Its compact and discreet design allows it to blend almost invisibly into any door or window. Thanks to its Plug & Play installation, it can be quickly and easily mounted, making it suitable for both residential and small office environments.
The device offers two operating modes, providing different data transmission logic depending on user needs:
In Normal mode, the device transmits the current state, ambient light level, and battery status with every opening or closing event. For tilt-and-turn windows, it sends event data immediately upon opening, followed a few seconds later by tilt angle information. It then periodically checks for angle changes and updates the data if needed, ensuring accurate status tracking.
In Beacon mode, the device sends data not only on events but also at regular intervals (every 30 seconds). It continuously reports open/closed status, light conditions, and battery level to the cloud, enabling constant monitoring. This mode can be activated in the Shelly app.
